The tower finds itself in high demand

I've been asking Kevin to hurry up and finish the work on the south wall for AGES as I wanted the tower in order to paint the north wall. FINALLY, he scaled it and reattached the flailing planks and the loose edge-tiles. He also finished and painted the outside of the little window frames, installing mosquito nets too. It's such a relief to get all of these little jobs done!

But was I to get the tower? No. Kevin fell into a frenzy of loose tile fixing all around the house!

Eventually, I did secure ownership of the tower and repainted the grubby-looking north wall. No, you can't see the finished job, as, to be honest, it's still a bit grubby.

And, after our aerial efforts concluded with no dramatic falls, we returned to some familiar territory of bygone renovation days: fluff puff! We have never managed to finish our master bedroom, mainly because we were waiting for a stretch of good weather in order to build the second dormer window. However, due to Covid-19, we didn't arrive at the property until late June this year, and then much of the time since then has been spent entertaining family, so we've shelved plans for a second dormer- we don't really need it. This means that we can get on and finish the walls, both in the master bedroom and on the landing.

You think that looks like mud walls there behind the plasterboard newness? You'd be right! In several places, the stones are held together with mud. It's more like a render here, I suppose, but I don't know how the house stays standing!

Oh! And we'd never fitted the final section of the extractor tube and roof vent for the dryer, so now it's done and we'll no longer be extracting perfumed condensation onto the landing. It was pleasingly fragrant, but a bit too steamy.

Kevin's left a little access hatch on the landing, as this is where so many pipes and cables converge.

The painting is taking longer than expected this morning, as (well, for one thing, I'm sitting here typing) the new roller I bought last week doesn't roll. It sticks and slides. I've had to wash it out and try the roller round the other way. I'm just letting it dry out before trying again. So, for now, we have a slidy undercoat.

Kevin is finishing of electrical points and plumbing in the radiators.

I'd better go and do some painting. See you soon.
