I thought it might be interesting to introduce our plan of attack at this stage, so that we can look back and be amazed at how marvellously on track we are... or perhaps to look back and wonder what in the name of Napoleon we were thinking!
First things first- purchase the caravan. It's currently in Poitier, so we'll just need to hook it up and trundle it down to Cousein Bas. Then we need to connect all services: broadband, water, electricity. There will be other things like rates to organise, but that area is still misty. There's time. Next, the fosse! This is the septic tank and all of its bits and beds. I'm not sure how long anyone can continue to use a chemical toilet without becoming jaded. I'll let you know in time...
The first cottage: a full gutting process and introduction of a kitchen, sitting room, cellar, two bedrooms and a BATHROOM! And four dormer windows.
The piggery: transformation into a double bedroom with en suite bathroom
The bakery: transformation into a pottery and atelier!
The swimming pool: this involves demolishing part of the big barn, taking delivery of a pool and extraordinary amounts of hard labour. Yes, we do intend to do most of this work ourselves- we're strong! And crazy? But we'll have a pool... with an infinity end facing the sunset.
The walled kitchen garden: we have to eat!
The second cottage: this has clearly been used as a workshop and is full of oil drums, tools and grease, but underneath, there lurks magic. It will become the most glorious cobblestone-floored gite with two bedrooms.
The golf course: Only four holes, but l o n g fairways.
The top barn: Conversion into two two-bedroom gites with a big area in the centre where shall dwell the 'dark bar'.
The garage: the garage consists of four sheets of corrugated asbestos, but it shall rise from the ashes to become a chapel- I need to put my collection of church furniture somewhere. There will be ethereal music and peace, perfect peace, with a view of the hills and sky. And a stained glass window.
Throughout all of this, we'll sculpt the grounds and lay cobbled paths, and restore the well. The driveway needs help, and iron gates will be sought. We'll also put a bench in the ruins.
Enough!
