Supporting France

Although the Euro football final between France and Portugal was being broadcast live on a big screen by the cathedral, we made our way again to the Cafe Le Richelieu in Tulle. The bar man, Jean-Paul, 'French flagged' Kevin's face with a little chalking device after loudly hailing the arrival of the Bete Noir.

Well, France didn't win, but we were pleasantly surprised to witness the people gathered in the bar give a hearty round of applause for the winning team, and for the French players. How sporting!

Driving out of Tulle after the match, we had to drive through a large gathering of Tulle's Portuguese community, who were filling the road and waving flags and shouting merrily. As they parted to allow our passage, they noted our British registration (perhaps?) and, for some reason, all stood back and applauded... They hadn't applauded the previous car...
