Lathe Man!

Martin, our French Adventure godfather, kindly supplied us with three windows. I'm not sure if Martin is actually aware of this, but, we 'rescued' them from his garage at Poitiers. Martin, you are cordially invited to come and visit them in situ.

They'd been in the garage a while, and the metal mechanisms had rusted. When Kevin attempted to undo the first window, the mechanism broke, the smallest of little winged washer-type doo-dahs losing its wings. This minor casualty rendered the window 'broken'. Can you buy a little doo-dah in the DIY stores? No. Can you buy an entire new mechanism? No, not like that one. Can you buy a whole new window? Yes.

But we wanted to avoid that.

All was lost! Or was it?

In stepped Lathe Man.

Is he an engineer? Yes.
Does he have a magical workshop full of weird technical equipment? Yes.
Is he brave and ambitious beyond normal human expectation? Yes.
Is he happy to help a window user in distress? Yes.
Does he have the power to create a brand new doo dah to fit your mechanism? Yes!

I can't describe the process in detail or with any accuracy whatsoever, but I do know that it is done. It involved microscopic equipment and drilling holes in things that are surely too small to have the capacity for a hole.

We are now in possession of the doo dah, duly fitted, and, additionally, the other windows' mechanisms have been healed by Lathe Man. WD40 was involved at some point, but we are forever in Lathe Man's debt.

The fitting and testing of the new doo dah.

A clampy tool that was significant in the mysterious process.

 Lathe Man's trusty sidekick
(One of them- there is another... one who possesses a power to match that of Lathe Man- see below).

Technical discussions.

Look! As if re-crafted doo dahs weren't enough, the other more Sue-per sidekick made this! And she brought it for us to enjoy!
