At last! A day off!

Kevin decided that it was time for a day off work, so he contacted a friend he hadn't seen for over thirty years, who he knew lived in France, and off we set on the A20, southbound, for a grand reunion. We drove and drove. For two and a half hours... Eventually, we were nearer Spain than our French home. We were heading for Bourg-de-Visa, as our satnav didn't have the slightest idea where the actual address was, and this town had the same post code and a similar name. Once we'd left the A20, the landscape grew decidedly pampas-like, not the rain-soaked green pastures we'd left in the Correze. We started to see palm trees and olive trees, and the temperature was high enough to have me reaching for the air conditioning in the car. We stopped in the square at Bourg-de-Visa to consult a map. A man in a van asked us if he could help. We gave the name of Kevin's friend, and lo and behold, he said, "Follow me, I live next door." So, we did, and five minutes' later, we arrived at Gary and Lisa's place. Thanks to Chris!

This isn't Gary and Lisa's place, but this part of France is dotted with little tubby windmills just like this one. Quite cute! Kevin took a small detour to allow me to take this close-up photo.

This is Gary and Lisa's place!

And these are the dogs. One is just a lunchtime guest.

Lisa had prepared us lunch, and the rescuing neighbours were invited too. What a scrumptious feast we shared! We spent a day lounging on the veranda, chatting, reminiscing and laughing, happy as hole-diggers on hols.

They have a swimming pool, and a pool-side bar! It's not opened up for the summer yet. :(

Driving back through our local town of Tulle, we noticed that the river was pretty fast-flowing. But clearly not as fast-flowing as it has been over the winter... Look at those abandoned logs!

Wine. Wine is an important part of la vie francaise, as I'm sure you're aware. But were you aware that wine is insanely inexpensive in France if you select something from your local region? This white Bordeaux is possibly the most delicious white I've ever tasted, and it was 2 Euros at Super U. It just doesn't make sense. And that posh Italian fizzy water? 75 cents. How? I'm sure it's over £2 a bottle in England.
