Getting by

We de-greased the kitchen walls with gallons of Swarfega (a deb product- I like that), applied using a dustpan and brush, but they were painted browny orange anyway, so Kevin decided to put a positive slant on things by whitewashing them for now, just to make it more bearable to work in. Turns out that the beautiful flagstones are CONCRETE! Feel cheated! We're going to cover it up with a raised wooden floor.
We'd been worrying. We received a letter last week from EDF saying that a man would visit to inspect the site today. We've* rigged up a temporary British fuse board and sockets with a circuit breaker to give us a safe supply during works, and we suspected that he'd not be happy about that. He was here all of three seconds. He read the meter. That was it.
*Kevin did it. My supply would have been more lethal than the existing three thousand** year old French one.
**Yes, that was a silly exaggeration.
