We're Walnuts
There are a lot of walnut trees on our farm. Despite being walnut fans, we can't keep ALL of the walnut trees, as some of them are in the way of developments. This one, though fruitful, has to come down, as it is in the way of the impending sewage pipes and drainage, and eventually... the terrace with hot tub. (No, I find it hard to see that far ahead too...)
We have now gathered way more than these photos show...
We're going to have to take the tent down, as the Autumn weather promises to be persistent. It is only, after all, a spare bedroom and the garden shed. The bikes, mower and golf clubs can go in the cottage now.
An apology for the storm? OK, you're forgiven, French weather.
We've been collecting nuts both out of their cases (as this is the walnut harvest season) and those still inside them. Apparently, the cases will soon split and release their treasure. Picking open the green cases with bare fingers is not advisable; they stain most terribly! Despite hours of scrubbing with a nail brush and soap, my nails and fingertips are dark brown! I can't even bring myself to share a photo- it's too shameful...

Hold on to your tent! One nylon guy rope snapped, and another is close to snapping!
